Russell Alfred Chaney, Born October 1,1924 in Keyser, West Virginia to Russell A. and Pauline Summerfield Chaney who predeceased him along with brother Paul, an infant brother and his sister Kathleen Wallace. He is survived by his wife Donna who he married in 1984, son Stephen as well as niece Sheryl and nephews Tom Wallace and Jerry Chaney. Russell moved to Akron Ohio at a very early age then before his teen age years moved to Cleveland/Euclid area where he finished his formal education. Russ was 4 F due to a broken ear drum so he left school and entered a job at TRW helping manufacture supplies for the WAR effort! Yes, he did do his part for the war. After the end of the 2nd WW he returned to school for his diploma and worked for 23 years at TRW prior to moving to Tucson, AZ in 1970 where he was employed at Hughes Aircraft/Raytheon before retiring in 1988. He learned to fly here in Tucson as that was a lifelong dream. He was a member of the E.A.A. and secretary for a number of years. He built a beautiful Hatz bi plane which was his joy until he restored a 1947 108-2 Stinson "Station Wagon" tail dragger. His guitar was his next best girlfriend and he spent many wonderful hours with her. He taught beginner guitar for many years. He will be missed by a host of other relatives and friends especially at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and the "Ladies at the Annex".
Service will be held at the Chapel at South Lawn on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 9:30am with half hour viewing prior to the service and interment in the mausoleum. Services by Pastor Dan Valasakos. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Building fund or American Cancer Research.
