home in Tucson, with his family by his side. He was very much a family man.
Ramon was born on June 29, 1945, at home in Tucson, Arizona to Manuel
and Victoria Muńoz. He stayed in Tucson close to family for his entire life.
Ramon married his wife, Geraldine, of 57 years in 1965. They were and are
very much in love. God blessed them with three children: Cynthia, Ramon
(Monica) and Patricia. Nine grandchildren: Reina and Rogelio Small, Ramon
(Tiffany) Muńoz, Mariah Linarez, Sophia (Thomas) Gibbs, Angelica Jimenez,
Zachary Rebert, Felicity Fugate and Aubrey Delvecchio. Fourteen great
grandchildren: Viviana, Mayli, Kailyn, Hector, Kadence, Kendal, Zaianni, Andres,
Dominic, Gemma, Ania, Syrus, Abram and baby Angel Amiya. Ramon has two surviving
sisters: Helen Martinez, Monica Muńoz and three brothers: Frank (Marilyn),
Arnold (Tina) and Oscar (Diana). He was preceded in death by: His parents,
Manuel and Victoria, sister Juanita (Pete) Marmolejo, baby Angel Emily and
brothers: Ralph and Manuel.
Ramon attended Sacred Heart church and school prior to marriage. He then
attended St.Cyril’s and Our Mother of Sorrows Church with his wife and children.
Finally, as empty-nesters, he attended St. Thomas the Apostle with his wife
Geraldine.
Ramon served in the Armed National Guard for eight years from 1963-1971.
He was a Rifle Expert in the Weapons Infantry.
Ramon loved to restore and work on old cars and working in the yard. He
enjoyed bicycle riding with his wife and dancing to Country Western and Mexican
music. He especially loved playing with his children, grandchildren and finally his
great grandchildren. He also enjoyed an occasional trip to the Casino. Ramon
delivered “Mobile Meals” as a combined effort with his wife to help the less
fortunate and homebound, until his Dementia no longer allowed him to do so.
Ramon worked from age 11-67. As a child, he helped his family work in cotton
and tobacco fields. As a teenager, he worked laying decks for pool companies.
Eventually, in 1964 he went to work for James Motors in the Parts Department
which was the beginning of his career in Auto Parts. He managed the Parts
Department at VanWyk Volkswagen, VanWyk Mazda, Jim Click Nissan, Stuttgart
Autohaus and Stillwell BMW. He then went on to manage three different
Batteries Plus stores here in Tucson. He retired from Batteries Plus in 2012.
Ramon was a kind, generous, loving, fair, helpful and understanding man. He
had a beautiful and contagious smile that matched his heart. He never met a
stranger because he would talk to anyone and they were drawn to him due to his
gregarious demeanor. He was loved by all and he will be missed dearly but never
forgotten.
Services: Sacred Heart Church 601 E. Ft. Lowell. Viewing is at 11:00 AM, Mass
immediately following at 11:30 AM. We will proceed to SouthLawn Cemetery for
his burial and then back to Sacred Heart for a reception in the Church Hall about
2:30-5:00 PM.
