Our beloved brother, Ramon "Ray" Chavez passed away on December 14, 2024 at the age of 72. He was born on January 17, 1952 in Tiger, Arizona (a town that no longer exists) but was located three miles southwest of the town of Mammoth.
Ray graduated from Tucson High School in 1970, and was drafted into the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18. He worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Tech and received several medals and awards during his 16 years in the military. He was a Vietnam Veteran, and was also stationed in Spain, California and Oklahoma. He retired from Weiser Lock after working 14 years.
He is survived by Sylvia, the love of his life for 34 years; his children, Robert (Dana), Vicky, Alva, Raymond (Megan), Ricky, and his grandchildren; sisters, Marianne, Alice (David), Pat, Linda (Jerry), Dina, and Irene; brothers, Gilbert (Mellie), Dan, John, Andy, Ronnie and Gabriel. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Mike and Greg, and his parents, Ramon and Guadalupe Chavez. He was loved by so many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He loved to watch sports especially the U. of A. basketball and football. He loved to hear Tejano music, and loved going to the casino. I want to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Sylvia, Roxanne, Marty and the grandkids for being there for Ray. Even though we are saddened by our loss, we are at peace knowing he is no longer in pain and no longer suffering. Ray will be greatly missed.
