Norma Felix was born in Phoenix, Arizona on April 6th, 1931. Norma grew up with her parents and 3 brothers in Tucson’s Barrio Centro neighborhood. After her high school education as a Tucson High Badger, she entered the Banking profession. She later began working for Pima County Court offices. Her talents were soon recognized and was appointed to Clerk of Pima County Superior Court. Norma was the first Latina to hold this public office. She was instrumental in the transformation of the Clerk’s office from manual to computerized processes. A new southwestern style Marriage License was another of her many accomplishments. After her time with Pima County Superior Courts, she worked for the University of Arizona, East Asian Studies College.
Upon her retirement, she continued to serve her community as a volunteer at St. Mary’s hospital assisting families and patients in need. She also volunteered as a teacher aide at grade schools on the west side of Tucson. Her passion for introducing higher educational opportunities to her students planted seeds that would grow. Many of her former students are now enrolled in higher education.
Her love, support and commitment to her family and friends was evident to all that met her. As a single mom she successfully met many challenges head on and supported her grateful son. Chocolate and Mexican food were among her favorite enjoyments. Our community and family have lost a very special person. Her love of life will continue to all those that knew her.
Services will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 5150 North Valley Road, Tucson, Arizona 85718 at 11:00AM on April 30, 2022. Reception lunch to follow in the parish hall.
