Our beloved Melanie L. Auman passed away on August 27, 2016. Mel was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on August 4, 1946 to Robert & Oneda Walker. Mel is preceded in death by her parents, sister Rusty Eme, and grandson, Samuel Walker Auman. Also preceding her in death is her faithful dog Dexter. Mel is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Richard Auman; sons Robert Auman (Susan), Jeffrey Auman (Molly), Michael Auman (Julie); daughter Dawn Auman-Jihad (Ahad); granddaughter Ashley Haley; grandson Maxwell Auman; siblings Trav, Jeanne, Bob, Mickey, Al, and Bert; and numerous nieces, nephews and three special grandnieces.
Mel attended Elmhurst HS in Fort Wayne, IN. She married the love of her life, Richard Auman, in 1963. They lovingly raised four children and welcomed two sisters and a niece into their home. After moving to Tucson in 1984, Mel returned to school and graduated from Pima Medical Institute. Mel worked as a Physical Therapy Tech at El Dorado Hospital where she enjoyed her coworkers and clients. Mel was an amazing woman, wife, mother, and friend. She was funny, strong, passionate, generous, a natural leader and organizer. Even as her physical health declined, she retained her leadership skills, positive attitude and great love for her family. She was larger than life and made a positive impact on many lives. Those who knew her, loved her dearly and will miss her immensely.
Donations in Melanie’s honor can be made to the American SIDS Institute.
The family will hold a private service for Melanie. Inurnment will be at East Lawn Palms Cemetery-Columbarium. Arrangements by Desert Rose Heather & East Lawn Palms Cemetery.
