Judy Barnett, passed away December 28, 2022. She was proceeded in death by her husband Ross E. Carmichael, she was survived by her children Cindy West (David West), and Gary Carmichael (Pamela Carmichael), her brother Warren Olney (Sandy Olney) her two grandchildren Crystal Meyer (Scott Meyer) and Brian Carmichael (Melinda Carmichael). She also is survived by her great grandchildren, Rachel Carmichael, Sara Carmichael, Alduin Meyer, Jonathan Carmichael, Raiden Meyer, Miriam Carmichael, Naomi Carmichael & Rebeka Carmichael.
She enjoyed horseback riding from an early age with her best friend in high school Sandy, they would be so inseparable that she was like a sister and part of the family on many occasions. She loved to do things her way and didn’t like bugs flying or creeping on the ground. I bet the first question she asked God when she got to heaven is, why did you create bugs? If you were in her way when she saw one you could get run over as she would immediately move away from the bug. She was always home when her kids were in grammar school so when they came home, she could be there to check on their day at school. She was involved in the PTA at her kid’s grammar school and always encouraged them to do their best at whatever they were doing. She also loved to square dance encouraging her kids to also learn at a young age and this became a family interest that lasted many years for my mom. She also liked to ride motorcycles with her husband and enjoyed many good times with the club they belonged to in Covina California. She loved playing a good game of cards and wouldn’t let you win because you were related. When she retired, she didn’t relax or just sit around she volunteered with many organizations such as her church, Sierra Vista Baptist Church, the SAT Team (Sherriff Assist Team) for Cochise County Sherriff Department, CFAA (Civilian Fire Academy Association) for Sierra Vista Fire Department and the CPAA (Civilian Police Academy Association) for the Sierra Vista Police Department where she was on the board as a Sergeant-At-Arms. She also volunteered to drive her neighbors and friends that couldn’t drive to appointments and the grocery store. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family and people, setting up the potlucks at church, decorating and having a theme gave her enjoyment because it made others happy. She loved to plan gatherings or help out when needed at a moment’s notice because she didn’t believe in standing around while others needed help or worked on something. She will be missed by many, remembered for her smile and sense of humor, a caring heart for others and the imprint she left on all she met.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday February 25th, 2023 at 10:00 am with a potluck to follow. The address is Sierra Vista Baptist Church, 215 Taylor Drive, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635- Church Phone number (520)458-2764
