John Andrew Hill was born in Holbrook, Ariz. on December 2, 1962, but spent most of his 51 years in Tucson. He left this Earth on February 2, 2014, completing a journey that included raising three wonderful children with his wife, Elena, as well as a successful career as an architect. He worked for several local firms, and was employed by Pima County's Facilities Management department at the time of his passing.
John had a passion for family, music and the arts, taking great pleasure in doting over his only grandchild, Nikolai. When not helping to design local projects such as the Fox Theater restoration in downtown Tucson, the Trico Electric Co-op headquarters in Marana or, most recently, the Pima County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, John spent his free time with Elena, son Nathan (father of Nikolai and husband of Victoria), daughter Emma (wife of Joshua Ferrara) and teenage son Josiah.
John was heavily involved in his church, working with youth, and taking evangelical mission trips to Belize, Panama and Venezuela, and also volunteered with AWANA and Little League Baseball.
In addition to his wife, children and grandson, John is survived by mother Finetta and brothers Robert Jr. (Heather), Jeff (Katie) and Danny. He was preceded into Heaven by father Robert Sr.
John left this Earth too early, but his life will be celebrated at services set for 10 a.m. Saturday, February 15 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1825 N. Alvernon Way in Tucson. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave.
Flower deliveries can be arranged with South Lawn Mortuary by February the 13th. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Arizona Baptist Children’s Services, 1779 N Alvernon Way, Tucson, AZ 85712 (https://www.abcs.org/donate/)
