Joe (Jose) Rios Brown Jr., of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on February 7, 2024. Joe was born on February 22, 1940, in Crowell, Texas, to Jose Rios Brown and Josefina Valladarez. After completing grade school Joe went to work for the family in various jobs from picking cotton or other crops to construction. In 1961, Joe joined the United States Air Force and served for 23 years and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from the military Joe settled in Tucson, Arizona and on December 15, 1984, he married Dolores Winger. They had 39 wonderful years together. They loved to travel to see family and friends or to just go on a new adventure to see new things. Joe loved to cook, and his salsa will be missed by all. When Joe was not cooking or traveling, he liked to work in his yard or on his old truck. Joe never met a stranger and even if they did not remember his name, they always remembered his smile.
He is predeceased by his mother and father, his son Jose (Joey) R. Brown III, sister Josephine De los Santos, brothers Baldemar Brown and Jesse Brown.
He his survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Dolores; daughter Victoria Glover (Gary), Stepdaughter Christy Winger (Lollie), and son Troy Baker. He is also survived by his siblings George Brown, Rual Brown (Louise), Gloria Riazati (Mo), Yolanda Nobrana (Fred), Amiela Hampton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He had three wonderful grandchildren, Anthony Stretton, Kayla Stretton, and Priseis Baker who he cherished. In the summers he would take them on vacations so they could have new experiences and create memories. He was also blessed with three great grandchildren, Hazel, Trenton and Aspen Stretton, who will be told wonderful stories of his generosity and kind nature.
Service will be held on February 20, 2024, at South Lawn Cemetery at 5401 S Park Ave Tucson, Arizona.
