A bright star in the sky dimmed on July 29th, 2021; Jennifer Lyn Jacobs of Tucson, Arizona left this earth too soon at 48 years old from a pulmonary embolism. She recently wrote in a text: “I have this LOVE of the Universe, so I’m collecting canvases of it.” Jenni had a zest for living and people that was reflected in everything she did. Like the butterflies she adored, she led a magnificent but short life, had an uncanny lightness of being that brought joy and happiness to those around her, and a dedication to helping the community in her role as a crisis mobile specialist in suicide prevention for Community Bridges Inc.
She loved decorating and nesting and her apartment was filled with the things that brought her happiness. A sign on the wall read: “In a field of horses, be a unicorn,” and Jenni was truly one of a kind, from her constantly changing hair color she loved to experiment with to the sparkly blue nail polish that adorned her toes the day she died. She had a sashay like Mae West and a twinkle in her aqua eyes that she used to flirt, and a big laugh to accompany her wry sense of humor.
She loved to cook for others; her pots and pans were sky blue and read: “Happiness is Homemade” in pretty script. “Jennifer’s Kitchen” hand towels hang from the cabinets, and her apartment was beautifully decorated, a skill she always said she inherited from her mom. She was thrilled about her new car. She had the opportunity to travel to far off places like Paris, Milan, Rome, Venice and the Cote d’Azur and souvenirs from those trips filled her home. She loved to dance and sing and was friendly to everyone she met, referring even to strangers as “Hon.”
She was an amazing daughter and sister, and leaves behind her parents, Marilyn and Don Phillips, and sister Georgia Jacobs and many friends and colleagues who will miss her dearly.
