Janice Kay Douthitt, née Traister, entered her eternal home with Jesus on December 7, 2024, at the age of 82. Born in Clarion, Pennsylvania on April 23, 1942, to Charles "Chuck" and Velma (Best) Traister, Jan moved with her family to Tucson as a young girl.
She was a member of the first graduating class of Catalina High School (1960), then attended Anderson University and the University of Arizona, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Elementary Education. After teaching for two years, she focused on raising her children, later managing the business end of the wholesale company she and Joe operated, Towayalane Trading Company.
Jan married S. Joseph “Joe” Douthitt on June 1, 1964. She was the loving mother of Brent (Beth) of Phoenix and Laura Beth “Beth” (Bob) Jors of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and proud grandmother of Meghan Douthitt (Flagstaff, AZ), Michael Douthitt (Charlotte, NC), Amelia “Mia” Jors and Emmersyn “Emme” Jors, both of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She is survived by her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, brother-in-law Roy (Gail) Pruitt of Tucson, and numerous friends.
Jan was preceded in death by her devoted parents, sister Linda Traister Pruitt, and niece Connie and nephew Toby Pruitt.
Raised in the Church of God, Jan was a long-time member of El Camino Church of Tucson. Her faith in Jesus and knowledge of her salvation brings comfort to those she has left behind.
