Janet Cioffi Workman, 71, formerly of Cresskill, NJ, peacefully passed away in Tucson, AZ on December 31, 2022 from complications due to a stroke. She was in the loving company of her two sons, Jeffrey and Timothy Workman, and her husband Bruce Workman. Janet was born at Englewood Hospital on November 29,1951 to Marian and Joseph Cioffi. As a student, she was an avid classical music lover, excelled at the piano, and was proficient in many instruments including violin, flute, and baritone. In 1969, Cresskill High School awarded Janet the prestigious Allison Tallman Memorial music scholarship. She graduated in 1973 with a BA in music from Hope College in Holland, MI, studying under the auspices of the esteemed Professor and pianist Charles Aschbrenner. Janet taught in Nanuet, NY schools, was a church organist at the Dutch Reformed Church on the Hill in Cresskill, and gave private piano lessons. It was as a piano teacher that she met and married (in 1975) Bruce Workman, a student of hers. The two moved to California, and as Bruce pursued his law degree, Janet taught music at the Crystal Cathedral Church. She became a full-time office manager at Bruce’s law firm, but her passion for music remained a core, integral centerpiece for her family. In 1999, they moved to Tucson, AZ where Janet became a special education teacher, respected by students and colleagues alike in the Sunnyside Unified School District. In addition to her husband and sons, Janet is survived by her mother Marian Cioffi, brother Vincent Cioffi, and her nephews Christopher, Kyle, Daniel, and Eric. She is predeceased by her father, Joseph Cioffi.
