Jane was born to the late Regis T. and Kathryn L. (Giel) Murphy, on April 9, 1946, outside Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Vincentian High School in 1964, then attended Duquesne University where she met the love of her life, Donald W. Edwards. The two married on February 3, 1968. Together they set off on a worldwide adventure that would span 50 years, 6 states, 3 countries, 19 moves, 2 kids, 7 grandkids and 9 dogs.
A consummate military wife, devoted and loving mother and homemaker. Jane’s true joy laid in being a grandmother. She was known as “Wegga,” a child’s pronunciation of “We GO” by her grandsons. She loved holidays and family get-togethers; spending time and making memories with her family was very important to her. She was the heart of our family. Jane was an accomplished seamstress; from dresses, to chaps to costumes or anything else someone needed. She was known for her kind smile and gentle heart. Jane would do anything for anyone. She believed in service to others before self.
She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, devoted grandmother, and woman whose greatest passions were her family and helping others; be that with a kind word, a smile, or a loving embrace. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Jennifer L. Carlson (Dale) and David D. Edwards (Bhea). And her seven grandchildren: Eric, Kyle, Ryan, Elizabeth, Elayne, Sarah, and Isabella. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Marylee Schomburger.
