Frederick Carl Hayes, born January 25, 1932 in Lock Haven, PA. and passed peacefully surrounded by family on May 26. Preceded in death by daughter Marcella Ann. Fred is survived by his beautiful bride of 62 years, Bonnie Jean, his two sons, Frederick Jr. and Craig and daughter Deborah. Fred’s Legacy consists of four lovely granddaughters, Rebekah, Ashleigh, Gabrielle and Tiffany and two wonderful grandsons, Joshua and Alex. He is also survived by three terrific great-grandsons Eric, Valentino and Colten.
Fred enlisted in the Navy at 17 years of age and spent 3 ½ years in the service. After the service, Fred moved to Tucson and was a resident for over sixty years. He was employed with Mountain Bell Phone Company for almost thirty years. Always smart with a dollar, he was able to retire in his mid-fifties. A devoted husband and amazing father, Fred always put his family first. From Cub Scout Leader, PTA Parent, Little League Baseball and Softball coach, to Lifeguard during the summers at his backyard swimming pool. He enjoyed living a simple life with barbeques, listening to his music and spending time with friends and family.
He loved his Pittsburgh Steelers, riding his 3-wheeler bicycle, the AZ Diamondbacks and his dogs. He lived his life honestly, with compassion, a wonderful sense of humor and with faith and love. We will miss his engaging smile, beautiful blue eyes and his sweet, strong and loving ways.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Services will be held on June 2nd at 9:00 AM at East Lawn Cemetery. A Celebration of Fred will follow at VFW Post at 11:00 AM at 5320 E. Bellevue St, 85712.
