Gloria, I always looked forward to talking with your mom at the Reformation service each year at Grace Lutheran Church. We transferred our membership to Grace so didn't see your mom often. Husband, Ron, and son, Dale, did yard work for her from time to time and always enjoyed visiting with your mom. Ron and I visited your mom at the home on South Wilmot Rd, and I know she realized who we were. We had a wonderful visit!

I grew up across the street from the McCoy/Phillips household. Gloria was my best friend and Elsie was my second mom. Their house was mine and our house was Gloria's. I was fortunate to visit with both Gloria and Elsie this last Feb. The day flew by as we reminisced of earlier times and caught up on the current years. Elsie was her same happy, positive self that she always was, that had me leaving with a smile that day. I am so glad we had that day together. She is now home with the Lord and out of pain. Even though family and friends will miss her, we will all have wonderful memories of Elsie. She will forever be part of my childhood. My prayers for God's blessing to all the family.

I didn't get to see Elsie all that much in my life but I won't forget the times I did spend with her, something about Grandma stays with you forever. She left an impression on me that made me a better person. After visiting with her and hearing her recall stories about her life and what lows and highs she had, and how she just kept her faith in the Lord through all of those times let me know that she knew what was most important. Her life wasn't always easy, but she seemed to always have a positive outlook. We know why she was so positive. We know where she is right now. She was a blessing to those around her and we will see her again, soon.

Ah, sweet memories of Aunt Elsie! She cared for me when Grandpa Dick died. The family was with him; Michelle and I stayed with her and Bob, eating cookies. She sure knew how to manage Bob!:) She welcomed Brad to the family in '89 asking us to come visit her for the afternoon. She laughed and gave great hugs. She asked to us to bring Haley and Christian to visit every so often. I always knew I could drop by anytime. Heaven is rejoicing for another saint has joined the song!

To all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as long as I can remember your Grandma sang God's love in all she did. So, in the words of Charles Spurgeon,
“Go forth today, by the help of God's Spirit, vowing and declaring that in life – come poverty, come wealth, in death - come pain or come what may, you are and ever must be the Lord's. For this is written on your heart, ‘We love Him because He first loved us.' 

Your Grandma demonstrated this all the years I could understand what it meant!

Elsie (grandma) lived with a bold faith that has spanned the generations. She has been in our thoughts and prayers throughout the past several months and we gain comfort from the knowledge she is now resting pain free in her Savior's arms.
As I reflect on her life I am brought back to song I was taught as a child, "Who so happy as I am, even now the shepherd's lamb and when my short life has ended, by his angel hosts attended, he shall fold me to his breast there within his arms to rest."  Grandma is finally home, resting in the Lord's arms.

Our God is an awesome God; He reigns from heaven above.  Though we'll miss Elsie in the present, we'll see her soon, and then for all eternity.  Praise be to God for sending His Son so we can all go to heaven.

God talks to us....Just yesterday I was thinking we should get in touch and see how Aunt Elsie was doing....  To all the family, we will be praying and we are sorry for your loss at this time. Elsie was important in our family through the years and we'll all have wonderful memories from her life and ours.
