Elsie Gonzales, age 83 of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, May 13th, surrounded by her loving family. Elsie was born in Dixon, New Mexico, in 1939 to Apolinar and Maysonia Rodriguez, both of whom preceded their daughter in passing. Elsie was one of 8 children, and had 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
Elsie met and married her love Abraham Gonzales, and the pair spent 25 years happily married until his passing. Elsie became the matriarch of a large family, mother to Fabiola Gonzales, Paul Gonzales, Anna Murphy, Wilbert Gonzales, and Abraham Gonzales Junior, who survive their mother. Elsie is further survived by her grandchildren Sunserra Claudette, Diana, Angelina, Eileen, Anthony, Angela, Mildred, Erica, Victoria, Renee, Paul Jr., Ivan, Jerome, Brittany, Eric, and Frankie; her 41 great-grandchildren, and her 41 great-great-grandchildren. Elsie's heart was filled with love for each and every one of her incredible family members, and her memory will be cherished in their hearts in turn.
There was little Elsie loved more than her family, but she would probably place a good cup of coffee just behind them; even better if she could share a cup and company with them. Elsie was a woman of great faith, and loved Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; she would sit outside in His garden and pray the Rosary, and dedicated her life to serving others in His example. Her home parish was Our Mother of Sorrows.
During her professional career, Elsie was a caregiver, housekeeper, and homemaker, and always found a way to give service to her community. In her retirement, she continued to give service. Elsie found joy and serenity in the day-to-day, in cooking, cleaning, and playing bingo. She is fondly remembered for her pecan cookies, delicious and baked with her special touch.
Elise will be deeply missed, her absence dearly mourned. She lives on in the hearts and memories of all those who had the great opportunity to know her.
