Barbara Ann Bronson

Barbara Ann Cherry Bronson 73, the daughter of the late Paul Cherry and Thelma Turner, passed away on August 22, 2020. Barbara was born August 15, 1947 in Port Jervis, NY. Barbara is preceded in death by her son Barton Russell Davis; and is survived by her husband Gary Bronson; daughter Kristin Moore, son Leonard Franklin III and wife Amanda Franklin; stepsons Sean Bronson and Nicholas Camp, grandchildren Kirsten Davis, Adelle Moore, Burke Moore, Leo Franklin IV, Dallas Camp, Clarissa Bronson, Melissa Bronson, Amelia Bronson, and Zac Chavez.

Barbara grew up in Orange County, New York, and graduated from Eldred High School. She ventured out west to Arizona and made Tucson her forever home for over 50 years.

In her earlier years, she enjoyed playing the piano, pinochle, knitting, drawing paper dolls, and enjoyed spending time with her five younger siblings. She had a notebook that she kept while growing up and loved to write her future plans down. Her siblings always looked forward to going Trick or Treating with her. She loved dressing up and helping her siblings with creative costumes. She adored Elvis and took her siblings to see his movies. She will be remembered as a fun big sister.

Barbara volunteered and was a member of the Avicultural Society of Tucson. She had a great love of animals and enjoyed breeding cats, lop rabbits, and birds. After her career working in home daycare, she went into the business of breeding birds. Her favorite part was hand feeding and selecting the right owner for the happy bird. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband to bird conventions where they sold bird cages, and her very own bird toy line which she designed and manufactured.

Barbara raised her children with the love and enthusiasm of reading and would take weekly trips to the library. She never gave a limit on how many books could be checked out, as long as you could carry them. She always cheerfully welcomed any phone call or any drop-in visit. She was also very proud of her grandchildren. She always had the most encouraging words, and gave amazing advice. She was a kind, gentle, fun, and compassionate soul. She will be missed dearly.
