Arthur Avalos Trujillo, age 83, of Tucson, Arizona, passed peacefully on Monday, August 7th. Arthur was born in 1940 in New Mexico to Vidialdo and Juanita Trujillo, both of whom preceded their son in passing. Arthur was one of 10 siblings, and joins those who preceded him in passing: brother Sonny Trujillo (Beverly, living) of Ewa Beach, HI; brother Eddie Trujillo, of Las Cruces, NM; sister Beatrice Casares (Mario, deceased), of Silver City, NM; sister Emma Williams (Bill, deceased) of Phoenix, AZ; sister Lydia Archuleta, of Central, NM. Arthur is survived by his brother Richard (Rita) Trujillo, of Las Cruces, NM; his brother Albert Trujillo (Cecilia), of Silver City, NM; his brother Bernie Trujillo (Yolanda), of Mesa, AZ; and his sister Cecil Parra (Mace, deceased), of Las Cruces NM.
At the sunset of his life, Arthur was the patriarch of a large and loving family. He is survived by his three children: Debbie Mansour, of Mesa, AZ;; Kim Acuna (Luis) of Tucson, AZ, and their children, Arthur’s grandchildren, Luis Acuna (Shelby) of Tucson AZ, Anthony Acuna (Maryska) (parents of Arthur’s great-grandchildren Jace and Caden, Adrian), of Spokane , WA. Lisa Fernandez (Erick) of Rockledge, FL and their children, Arthur’s grandchildren, Kaylee Fernandez (mother to Arthur’s great-grandchild Kensley Fernandez) of Rockledge, FL and Jacob Fernandez of Columbus, OH. Arthur is further survived by his wife Maria L. Trujillo, and her children Pamela (grandson Alex) of Tucson, AZ, and Fernando (Christina) of Tucson, AZ. Arthur is additionally further survived by 7 nephews, 11 nieces, 22 grand-nephews, 15 grand-nieces, 10 great-grand-nephews, and 18 great grand-nieces.
Arthur graduated from Cobre High School in Bayard, NM, and went on to join the United States Air Force. Arthur served his country valiantly traveling the world and was stationed at Kadena AFB Okinawa Japan; George AFB, Victorville Ca; Connelly AFB Waco TX; Ft Richie, Cascade Maryland; Minot AFB, Minot ND; US Embassy Lima Peru; Mather AFB Sacramento CA. His travels also included a tour in Vietnam. He honorably retired as a MSgt in 1979 from the Air Force with over 20 years of service. Arthur also pursued a career in Human Resources in Tucson with Duval Mine, R.E. Darling, Beaudry RV, and Granite Construction. He finally retired from his career in 2008.
Following retirement, Arthur went on to dedicate his time to his passions. Chief among his great loves was his family. He enjoyed nothing more than being with his family and traveling with them. He was an avid University of Arizona Wildcat fan; if he wasn’t at the game, he was with his family at a local establishment, watching the game.
Arthur lived a long and full life. His radiant smile, zest for life, and stories of his past will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. Arthur’s memory will be cherished in the hearts of his family, friends, and every person he met along his path.
A graveside service with Military Honors for Arthur will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706. Following the graveside service will be a breakfast from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel South Lawn, 5401 South Park Ave, Tucson, AZ 85706.
