A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, Amy Hyunjoo Kim, passed away suddenly at 32, on Sep. 23, 2020 after a courageous battle with addiction. Born March 25, 1988, West Covina, CA; daughter of Henri and Debbie (Yoo) Kim. Amy grew up in Chino Hills, CA, where she attended Eagle Canyon Elementary School. She graduated from the University of Arizona, with a degree in psychology in 2014.
Amy was devoted to the Lord and she had demonstrated that even to the very last days of her life, despite the mind- and body-ravaging effects of the addiction. Now she sits with God in heaven totally free of pain, sorrow, and judgement.
Amy considered it her mission to help those in need, particularly troubled teenagers. She had set that as her life time goal and profession while completing her studies.
Amy enjoyed and loved art and music so much. Since young, she used to sketch and draw natural objects. And she learned to make ceramic figures and coffee mugs, most which still survive today. She played the flute, violin, and the piano, and her voice instantly brought smiles to everyone listening to her singing.
Amy, most of all, was creative, funny, vibrant, vivacious, and unafraid of the challenges of the world. Her short life had an extremely broad bandwidth than most people twice her age. She was gentle and warm-hearted and made everyone around her laugh and enjoy her company. Her intellect was keen and superb in grasping the finer points of the most complex issues we face today. We had had many lively and fruitful discussions.
When thinking of Amy, please celebrate the good memories you have of her. Life is oh so fragile, but firmly believing in the good Lord’s triumph, Amy was unafraid and, now, in peace with her Jesus and Savior and His comfort and shelter.
Amy, we love and miss you so, so, so much.
