Alfonso J. Carranza 86, born in Tucson, AZ, May 21, 1927, passed away surrounded by his family on November 11, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon S. and Jacinta J. Carranza and three younger brothers, Cornelio, Simon J. and Angel. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Amelia Carranza and children, Olga Lozano, Patricia Napier, Alfonso Jr. and Robert. He leaves behind his beloved 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren (his Pretty Babies). He is also survived by sisters, Vicky Canez, Connie Perez and Carmen Camacho. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was also preceded in death by half-siblings, Simon F. Carranza, Raul Carranza and Herminia Yanez. Alfonso was a retired postal worker but his true passion was in anything that required creative wits, common sense, strength in mind/body and hard work. His 16 hr/day work ethic yielded beautifully manicured landscapes, sprawling patio walls and just about any home repair that challenged or spiked his interest. As his hectic work schedule declined with age, Alfonso greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and growing number of "pretty babies". Our Dad was known for his generosity, determination and "this is how it's done" humor. He is much loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Viewing will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013, at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave., from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass in Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Burial Services immediately following at Holy Hope Catholic Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd. Funeral arrangements entrusted to FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL SOUTH LAWN.
