June 4, 1948 – November 26, 2024
My dad, Timothy Merlin Hauser, passed away on November 26, 2024, at home with his family in Tucker, Georgia. Five years ago, when he was given six months to live, my husband and I moved back to the States to be with him. True to his adventurous and determined spirit, he defied that prognosis, leading an active life filled with bike riding, traveling, and gardening.
Born on June 4, 1948, in Kansas City to Merle and Vicky Hauser, my dad embraced life with energy and joy. He is survived by his two beloved sisters, Dian Hauser and Dorothy Southern; his close cousin, Anne Lyon; a niece, Lara; and five grandcats who adored him—and whom he spoiled thoroughly.
My dad had a lifelong love of camping. Long before it became a trendy lifestyle, he was “living the van life,” making friends as he traveled across the U.S. His love of the open road and music defined him, and he shared that passion with me from as far back as I can remember. Some of my fondest memories are of him buying me the latest new wave 45s he heard on college radio.
He wasn’t just adventurous—he was deeply kind and generous. On one of our bike rides to the San Diego Zoo, we encountered a widow in her 80s with a flat tire on her vintage Chevrolet Bel Air. Without hesitation, he stopped to help her change it. Though she had to insist he accept her $5, he continued visiting her regularly until her passing. This story is just one of countless examples of his thoughtfulness and genuine care for others.
My dad was the kind of man everyone admired: honest, compassionate, and easygoing. He was the dad every daughter dreams of—caring, loving, adventurous, and always there when needed.
I hope this page serves as a reflection of the wonderful man he was. If you have a memory or story about my dad, I invite you to share it below.
Thank you, Dad. For everything.
With all my love,
Deon Hauser
