Sarah Catherine Vires, lovingly known as “Granny”, passed away on January 2, 2019 in Atlanta, GA at age 90. Catherine was born on July 2, 1928 in Road Fork, KY to Floyd and Lena West.
She is preceded in death by her husband Allen T. Vires Sr., her siblings and longtime companion, Bob Granzow.
Catherine enjoyed sewing, cooking and stayed busy with puzzles and word searches. She also enjoyed trying her luck at the casino and played bingo often. She cherished her tea cup collection and her little frog figurines. She loved all things pink and purple and spent many hours watching the birds and butterflies in the garden. She is survived by her children, Sharon Begeny of Huntington Woods, MI and Allen T. Vires Jr. (Darryl Kotrys) of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, Sarah (Blake) Bigorowski and Sean Paul Sidenstecker (Kaitlin Thanos); and great grandchildren, Charlotte and Brady Bigorowski. Catherine was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of A.G. Rhodes Health & Rehab at Wesley Woods and Halcyon Hospice for their loving care of Catherine in her final months. Catherine will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, MI and will be remembered at a celebration of life in Atlanta, GA.
