Neal was born in Atlanta, GA, to parents Weyman and Grace Carroll. He graduated from Murphy High School and attended the Georgia Institute of Technology before accepting a job as a draftsman working for the Wiedeman and Singleton engineering firm in Atlanta. He spent most of his working years as the foreman of Carroll’s Machine Shop, overseeing heavy machine repair, before retiring at the age of 65 to spend his remaining years with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren.
Neal met his future bride, Sandra Mullinax, in 1960, and they married in 1961. They welcomed two children in the following years, Mike and Jackie, who became the center of Neal and Sandra’s world. Later, they were blessed with three beautiful grandchildren whom they loved and adored.
Neal was an active, hard-working, and outgoing man who loved to build, repair, and improve things around the house. He was a true DIY’er who was always on the go. He also enjoyed recreational sports such as tennis, jogging, boating, and water skiing, and he led a very active and productive life well into his late 70s. His family and friends will always remember him as a kind, jovial, easy-going, and good natured soul with a great sense of humor and a zest for life.
A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, December 19th at 1:00pm at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Tucker, GA. Friends and family are welcome to attend and celebrate Neal’s life. **In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (curealz.org) in Neal’s name.**
