Robert Sessions

SESSIONS, Robert Morris passed away on October 24, 2024. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. Bob was born in Atlanta on September 29, 1927 to Martha Reeves Sessions and John Turner Sessions. He grew up in Grove Park and graduated from West Fulton High School in 1944. Bob served as a Staff Sergeant in 1946 and 1947 and remained in the Army Reserves until 1950. A member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, Bob graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950 with a BBA degree and then graduated from Atlanta Law School in 1952. His business career was principally in management with Allstate Insurance Company and as a Vice President with Decatur Federal Savings & Loan.

Bob was an Elder and Deacon in the Presbyterian Church (USA). He was a 49-year member of Rotary International, a past president and member of the Northlake/Tucker Rotary Club, and served as Chairman of the DeKalb County Rotary Council. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and Georgia Rotary Student Program Fellow. Through the GRSP program, Bob and his family hosted seven international college students studying at Atlanta-area universities.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dr. John T. Sessions, Jr., and Helen Jeannette Sessions, his wife of 43 years. He is survived by his son Ken Sessions (Jenny), daughter Noel Knight (Dexter), son Lee Sessions (Kaye), stepson Ronald Marshall, and daughter Mary Sessions (Antonio), as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Shallowford Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the Great Hall immediately following the service. Interment with military honors will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
