Dad was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on February 28th 1932. He was preceded in death by wife Dot Ouellette “Mom" and son, my brother David Ouellette. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kevin “me” and Susan Ouellette; brother Charlie Ouellette; grandchildren - Joshua Allen and Maddy Ouellette, Matthew David and Britney Ouellette, Sarah Amanda and Logan Mullany; great-grandchildren - Landon and Caden Ouellette, Emory Ouellette, Jade and Lucas Mullany and expected Hailey Mullany in March.
After graduating high school Dad enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1949. He served his three years in the Korean war as an Aircraft Radio Mechanic II, participating in operations against Communist China aggression. Dad earned ranking of Staff Sargent and was honorably discharged in 1952. He reenlisted in the Reserves for an indefinite period. He soon began his lifetime career in civil service with the U. S. Army using his training from the Marines, as a Radio Mechanic. He worked his way up the ranks in the Armed Forces Logistics Management Division earning many promotions and awards along the way. He finished his career working at Fort McPherson, HQ of Forces Command (FORSCOM) as Supervisory Material Readiness Specialist, working with Colonels and Generals providing the current readiness status on all FORSCOM subordinate units, plans and programs which impact Logistical Support Missions. Dad retired in 1990 at age 58.
Dad met Dorothy “Dot” Stringy “Mom” around 1954 and married soon after. Kevin “I” was born in 1956 and David was born in 1957. When my brother David and I were young, and lived in Massachusetts, dad would play ball with us and in the winter he helped us build a snow man and throw snow balls, and sometime made us help him shovel snow. Every winter Dad would make us a skating rink in the back yard by hand shoveling a huge area in the snow and spraying it with water. Dad and Mom would take us on fun vacations every year while we were growing up. When we moved to Maryland around age 10, dad taught us to play golf and I've played ever since, and I started my sons Josh and Matt playing when they were young, and they love the game too. Dad always loved to spend time with family, especially at Christmas. Dad and Mom were so loving, supportive, and generous to all.
Dad and Mom lived in Honey Creek subdivision in Conyers Georgia for many years and were devote Catholics, attending St. Pius X Catholic Church. Dad loved to play golf, and that is the reason my wife Susan and I met. One day after playing golf with Dad and his friends, I walked out to the pool and saw Susan. I went home, put on my suit, and returned to put my towel next to hers, as she was not there. When she returned, we caught each other’s eyes, and that was the beginning of our 40 years together. 3 kids and 5 grand kids and another on the way. Mom and Dad were very social and had many friends in the area. They were the life of the party, dancing and having fun. They loved to travel and went on several cruises and trips with friends. Dad was also a member of the Elks Club – we spent many great days playing horseshoes and pac man while enjoying great food and fellowship.
We love you Dad and will always remember all the good times we shared.
Kevin and Susan Ouellette
And all your loving family and friends
