Maryann Bates McGrail died peacefully at her home in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, June 4, 2021 at the age of 50. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, beloved sister, daughter, and friend to all that knew her. Maryann was born July 19, 1970 in Freeport, New York and raised in Jonesboro, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and had a successful career as Vice President at Association Management Executives, Inc. She enjoyed hosting parties, visiting the beach and mountains, playing handbells at TFUMC, cooking, traveling, and spending quality time with family and close friends.
Maryann is survived by her husband of 24 years, David Mark McGrail; daughters, Elayne Louise McGrail and Grace Ann McGrail; parents Joan and Charles Bates, sisters Michele Gilbert (Chip), Marisa Williams (Jason); Father-in-law Frank McGrail (Dottie), Sisters-in-law Ellen McGrail (Tony), Patty Scott, Martha Skeeters (Mike), Jenny Grimmer (Doug) and Brothers-in-law Greg McGrail (Susan) and Dewey McGrail; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her family wants to express their gratitude to all those who have loved, supported, and uplifted them and Maryann in prayer during her difficult journey. The love and kindness expressed through many different ways are testament to the many lives she touched along the way.
A memorial service to celebrate Maryann’s life will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 10th 2021 at Tucker First United Methodist Church. There will be a visitation starting at 10am, prior to the service. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Maryann's name to The American Cancer Society.
