Shirley I am so sorry for your loss.  I worked with Tom in Atlanta as both Inspection and TIGTA.  I have fond memories of Tom trying to get a non computer person to understand SAS.  He was always willing to try.  Prayers to you and the family.

Shirley, we are so very sorry for your loss.  We enjoyed many years working with Tom in both Inspection and TIGTA.  We especially enjoyed spending time with both of you at various office functions both before and after his retirement!  Our love and prayers are with you during this time.

Shirley and Family.  Tom was my manager for many years before he retired.  We worked in different cities, as did much of his staff.  Tom was an early adapter of the concept of managing a widely distributed work group and he did it very well.  We still got together in person.  I always enjoyed trips to Atlanta and SUGI/SGF.  We had some great times  learning, problem solving, and of course there were the Kick Back parties. Please know that you and your family are in our prayers.

Dear Mrs. Joyner and Family,  I worked at the Ogden, UT IRS Service Center, Internal Audit and then TIGTA- Office of Audit, before retirement.  I worked with Layne Powell who was one of Tom's biggest fans and got to know Tom through Layne. In later years, I was an Instructor for various courses we presented and often saw Tom in Washington or in Atlanta or at some of our Western Staff Conferences.  He was such an honorable, intelligent and good man and I am just sending you my deepest sympathy in this tough time for all of you.  During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Tom and I worked together on several projects. I enjoyed his intellect and appreciated his work ethic. We became friends at work. 

 I am sorry for your loss and for our loss as well.

Shirley and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Tom was a great guy and very intelligent.  Tom was my manager before he retired. I learned so much from working for him, much of which that I continue to use today. We had a lot of good times including the SAS conferences which Tom loved attending.  I am out of town this week on business travel so can't attend the funeral.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Shirley, I started with the IRS Inspection Service in May of 1967.  Soon thereafter Tom returned to our office from two years in the Army.  I worked with Tom for a good while at the IRS Service Center in Chamblee, GA.  I also worked with Tom on an internal audit of the Jackson, MS IRS office.  I found him to be of impeachable character in his duties.  I also found him to have a very subtle sense of humor.  I enjoyed very much our days together at work in different parts of the country, particularly after he left the Southeast Region and began work in some of Inspection's early days of computerization.
