Charles, affectionately known as “Grandpa” or “Pawpaw” to the neighborhood children, was a beloved member of his community. He shared his warm heart and boundless kindness, often handing out lollipops to the kids (always with their parents’ permission). His generosity and gentle spirit made him a cornerstone of the neighborhood.
A man of many talents and tireless work ethic, Charles loved telling stories of his working days—from tree work to road grading. A true outdoorsman, he spent his days under the open sky, only coming indoors at night. His adventurous spirit even led him to live for several weeks inside a hollow cypress tree while working in Texas, a testament to his resilience and connection to nature.
Charles will be deeply missed by his family, especially his brother-in-law, Joseph Scarpaci; sister, Marsha Scarpaci; and niece, Priscilla Scarpaci, all of Tucker, Georgia. He is also survived by his brothers, Mickey Abercrombie, Terry (Sandra) Abercrombie, and Phil Abercrombie; and by his sisters, Marian Causey, Rosemary (John) Hicks, and Cheryl (Van) Strickland.
Charles’ legacy of kindness, storytelling, and love for the great outdoors will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
