Barbara Ann Byrne, age 81, passed peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at home with daughter Joyce by her side, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Barbara was born in Missouri September 20, 1934 to Helen Fae Coate and Willie Carl Rogers. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Kansas City, MO.
In 1955 Barbara married the love of her life, James Byrne, and lived most of their lives in Santa Clarita, CA. In later years Barbara and Jim retired to Florida, living in Daytona Beach. They loved to travel and vacationed all over the world throughout their lives.
Barbara was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Newhall, CA. She worked for the United States Post Office.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Byrne of Lancaster, CA; son Mark (Carol) Byrne of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Joyce (Scott) Taylor of Atlanta, GA; grandsons: Brent (Vanessa) Byrne, of Lancaster, CA and Paul (Jennifer) Byrne of Santa Maria, CA; great-grandchildren: Marshall 6, Parker 4, Mackenzie 8, Taylor 6 and Hunter 2. Barbara was preceded in death by her loving daughter Rebecca “Becky” Byrne in 1973.
Barbara’s Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on August 29, 2016 at the Mission San Fernando Rey De Espana Church (the San Fernando Mission), 1515 San Fernando Mission Blvd, Mission Hills, CA 91345. Interment will follow immediately at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery (parking on the Cemetery Grounds near Section F is next to the walkway to the Church).
