Dorothy M. Zimmerman

Dorothy M. Zimmerman, age 98 of Cedar, passed away on July 9, 2016. Dorothy was born in Detroit on January 16, 1918 to Paul and Catherine Fleis. She married the late Frank J. Zimmerman in Detroit in 1938 and then moved to Cedar. Dorothy was a wonderful mom and homemaker. She loved to bake. Dorothy was known for her poppy seed coffee cake at Easter and Christmas, which the family looked forward to every year. Her sons adored her homemade potato kielbasa dumpling soup which she learned to make from her German mother in law. She enjoyed polka dancing, playing euchre and shopping. Dorothy is survived by her children, Karen (Al) Laskey and Keith Zimmerman, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, daughter in law, Nancy Zimmerman and sister, Virginia Brazes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers; Ben and Frank Fleis and son; Kent Zimmerman. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016; 5-7pm with a Rosary service at 7pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Cedar. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016; 11am with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
