Rene Rivera Gonzalez

It is with a sorrowful heart to announce on Wednesday February 5, 2020, Rene Rivera Gonzalez passed away at age 64 years old in his home in Harbor City, California. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Rene was born in Long Beach, California on October 13, 1955. He was the third of six children born to Jorge and Alicia Gonzalez. Rene will be remembered by his mother Alicia Gonzalez, brothers Jorge Gonzalez and William Gonzalez and sisters Maria Foley and Christina Rivera. Rene will also be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Bene graduated Redondo Union High School and immediately began his long career with Redondo School District in the custodial arts. Rene was an avid cyclist having ridden to the interiors of Central Mexico with two friends in his teenage years.

His love of gardening was where he found much deserved pride.

Funeral proceedings to honor Rene’s life will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach, California at 10:30 am on March 6, 2020 with his Celebration of Life to directly follow in St. James Hall.

A private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California where he will be forever laid to rest with his sister Martha Gonzalez.
