Marie Rita Roberts

Marie Rita Roberts was born on April 3, 1926, the daughter of Daniel and Mildred Roberts in Ecrose, Michigan. Her parents and only brother Daniel preceded her in death. Marie and her family were members of the Catholic faith. Shortly after high school, Marie worked as a bookkeeper in a coal mining company. After a while Marie decided to spread her wings and move to southern California. Marie worked at the Air Supply Company (now Honeywell Industries) in the Accounting Department. She worked there until her retirement in 1986. Marie had many interests and enjoyed life: Member of the Westchester and Western Ladies Golfing Association, member of Culver City Rock and Mineral Club, going out with friends, playing cards, crocheting, jewelry-making from rocks, gardening and taking care of her dogs. Marie traveled out of the country as well as in the states. She always enjoyed visiting family and friends and loved being a hostess. Marie was an active, kind, sweet, feisty little lady with a humorous quick-wit, you never knew what she would say at any given time. January of 2015, Marie moved into Sunrise Senior Living located in Hermosa Beach, CA. Marie made instant friends with the Administrator and staff. Marie resided in the Reminiscence Community where she became the “Queen” for the year. Marie lead Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day lines, played bingo and bowling, baked brownies, participated in most events and the weekly happy hour. Mid-morning, Wednesday May 16, 2018, the hour glass, with its sands of time slowly but surely spilled its contents and with the passing of the last sand, Marie Rita Roberts passed from this life. Cherished moments of Marie will be remembered by her loving Uncle “Chuck” Charles Law, her caring and diligent first cousin Douglas Law (Ellen Marie) all from Niles, MI; her longtime caregiver and friend Aquilla Albert of Gardena, CA, many other relatives including her two nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and dear friends.
