Magdalena I Bersley, age 65, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, August 26, 2024 after a battle with cancer. Magdalena was born on Feb 13, 1959, in Los Angeles, to Paul and Violet (Krausz) Szego; she graduated from Carson High School in 1977. Magdalena married LeRoy Bersley, on April 2, 1983, in De Sabla, California. She worked various jobs in retail and food service eventually retiring as a cafeteria worker at LAUSD, Narbonne High School where she was loved by students, coworkers, and school faculty alike. Magda’s joy’s included watching Hallmark movies, Christmas in July specials, Matlock and Murder She Wrote reruns. She loved collecting Disney princesses, primarily Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (for her love of Dopey!). She also collected I Love Lucy and Elvis memorabilia. She was a kind, beautiful, sweet soul and had a knack for making new friends wherever she went. She was loved and adored by so many, and the world is a dimmer place without her smile. She is survived by her husband, LeRoy, son James Bersley, daughter Jennifer Peterson, grandsons Zachary Peterson and Damien Peterson, brothers Paul Szego Jr. and Jim Szego, sisters Margaret Kidd and JoAnn Miller and many nieces and nephews. Family, friends, and others whose lives Magda has touched, are invited to the Halverson, Stone & Meyers Mortuary, 1223 Cravens Ave, Torrance, Ca. 90501, from4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday October 07, 2024, to reminisce, to grieve, to celebrate her life, and support each other. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
