Helen Evangeline Coe

Helen Coe, a long time resident of Manhattan Beach, died early on the morning of Thursday, August 12, 2010. She lived a full and multifaceted life with a few examples being her World War II job as a metal riveter in an airplane factory and her life long career as a radiology technician. She was preceded in death (in 2008) by her husband of 62 years, Douglas R. Coe. As a couple they were known for their penchant for exotic travel and great outdoor adventures. Helen always had a desire to be learning something new and in her youth she was a great skier, hiker, camping enthusiast and all around athlete. Throughout her life she never lost her strong sense of adventure nor was she ever without her sharp wit and droll observations. She gave her time generously to many causes; she was a member of the Elks and also several other local associations whose main focus was on helping others. Helen was always an outstanding citizen. In her lifetime she was the epitome of responsibility and she was always there for her family and others. The world is indeed a better place for her having been here. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Linhares, her granddaughter, Amanda Mason and her two great grandsons, Zackery and Chace Mason. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday the 28th of August at the Portofino Hotel, 260 Portofino Way, Redondo Beach, CA, 90277.
