Georgia Burke Spencer (May 1, 1931 - January 11, 2021) passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Laura, in Hermosa Beach. She was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Los Angeles County, California. She graduated from Dorsey High School in 1949. After college (Long Beach State, UCLA), she taught school in the Torrance Unified School District for 25 years. She was involved in many community activities, including the Hermosa Beach Historical Society & Museum and the Hermosa Beach Sister City Association. She was smart, generous, gracious and kind. She loved to sail, swim, play the piano, travel, read, play bridge with her friends, and to attend plays, lectures, and concerts. Most of all, she liked spending time with her family and friends.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Seldon Spencer and her two sons - George Carroll and John Carroll. She is survived by her daughter Laura Carroll Doyle, stepdaughter Shelley Spencer Kraft (Peter) and stepson Steve Spencer (Kay). She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Miranda Doyle (Mark Li), Blade Doyle (Hien Tran), Cody Doyle (Thau Tran), Sean Linn, Korina Spencer Kannedy, Nick Spencer (Jordan), Kiana Kraft and Athena Bond (Louis Rodriguez), plus eight great-grand children: Max, Trent, and Riley Doyle, Clara Kannedy, Luka Spencer, Mason Raasch, Aiden Hare, and Ripley Marxen. Georgia lived a good long life - a life filled with the love of family and friends, and many great adventures. She will be missed.
