He was a proud member of EWBU for 65 years and was also an active member of AA for 45 years. Eugene loved animals and had a passion for ponies and mustangs (cars). He owned a 1965 and a 1966 Ford mustang, both of them he had restored, that he loved to drive. He also loved going to the horse races in Delmar.
Eugene’s passions were running, sports, and music. He was a lifelong marathon runner, who literally ran farther than the distance of the earth’s circumference in his lifetime. He started running at age 39 and ran for 54 years, up to when he turned 93. During this time, he ran in 34 marathons. Eugene’s music profession started in the 1960’s and he produced three CDs over the span of his career. He played at night clubs with his voice coach and famous pianist, Wini Beaty. He cherished every moment when he performed at Counterpoint Restaurant in San Diego. He fondly referred to this place as his “Carnegie Hall”. Eugene was an avid Dodgers and 49ers fan and was ecstatic to see the Dodgers win the World Series in 2024.
