Barbara was born on March 11,1945 in New Brunswick, NJ to parents Andrew and Ann Olsefsky Homisak (deceased). She passed away on February 05, 2022 in Torrance, CA.
Barbara is survived by her husband Raymond B. Blair, Redondo Beach, CA. Barb and Ray were partners for 30 years, including 11 years of marriage
Barbara graduated in 1963 from Moscow High School, Moscow, PA. She moved to Los Angeles in 1963, and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Cal State LA, in Home Economics.
Barbara started her career as a Manager in Training with Sears where she spent time in all the retail departments until she was assigned a position in the jewelry department, her favorite. After leaving Sears, Barbara had a long career as a well-regarded Customer Service Manager for numerous clothing manufacturers in the Los Angeles garment district, including Joshua Tree, Lee Thomas, Ocean Pacific, Carole Little and Cotton Stuff.
Along with her husband Ray, Barbara rode on numerous motorcycle trips across the west and they sailed frequently to Catalina Island. Barbara enjoyed gardening, landscape & flower painting, and traveling to both domestic and foreign destinations. She loved to play cards, especially blackjack. Barbara was a key member of a knitting group and she personally crocheted hundreds of beanies for US servicemen and women across the globe. She also collected greeting cards to send to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for use in arts and crafts projects.
Recently, Barb and Ray enjoyed attending the Friday night gathering of car and hot rod enthusiasts at Ruby’s in Redondo Beach. Many of those who attended became their good friends. Barbara particularly enjoyed the 50/50 drawing where she often won money and gifts.
Barbara is survived by step-sons Jeff Blair and Mark Blair, his wife Gina and their children: Zachary, Rebecca, Billy, and Nate.
She is also survived by siblings Ann Thomas, Carol Homisak Newton, and Delores Homisak. Her nieces and nephews include Andrew Thomas (deceased), Matthew Thomas, Christa Thomas, Elizabeth Iverson, Erik Iverson.
A private ceremony will be held for Barbara on April 2, 2022 at 11am at Lighthouse Memorials Rice Center in Torrance, CA. After the ceremony, friends and family are invited to a reception lunch at Andres Restaurant in the Doubletree Hotel in Torrance.
