The family of William (Bill) Carroll announce, with deep sadness, his passing on July 6, 2020, at the age of 79 years. Born and raised in Toronto, Bill studied at Ottawa University and excelled quickly in journalism as a staff columnist for the Ottawa Citizen, Montreal Gazette, Toronto Star, and the Financial Times. A particular highlight in Bill’s professional journey was his experience in a key role in the Public Relations and Communications team of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976. In recent years, Bill, as director, spearheaded the founding of the Low Vision Association of Ontario. Son of Judge William Carroll and Elsie Irvine Carroll, Bill is now lovingly remembered by his partner Madeleine, son Rankin (Maryliz), daughter Alexa (David), Rankin & Alexa’s mother Jo-Ann, his sister Sheila and brother Tony (Jane), and by nieces, nephews and grandchildren whom Bill adored. A celebration of Bill's life, in the spirit of his ever-present, and decidedly wicked sense of humour, will be announced once the current community-health concerns subside. Those wishing to make memorial donations are encouraged to donate to a charity of donor's choice. Arrangements entrusted to Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home.
