In his home overlooking his garden, Wayne passed on December 22, 2011 late evening among his children, Stuart and Meredith, wife Mary and mother in law, Ina after sharing some silly Christmas gifts. It was a beautiful, peaceful evening and one that Wayne could not have orchestrated any better. Wayne always did things his own way but only after investigating all the possibilities and with a certain degree of risk. He outlived all predictions of his cancer diagnosis in early December 2009 and his will to live was a marvel to everyone he met. Together for over twenty-three years, Wayne and Mary forged an interesting life full of shared interests including travel, art, collecting, skiing, biking and above all, the pursuits of Stuart and Meredith. Wayne had a number of interests on his own – among them, photography, sailing, hiking, gardening and building. Always focused on renewal, Wayne reinvented himself several times. Wayne was truly a “renaissance man.” Stuart, Meredith and Mary will endeavor to live a life full of ongoing learning and good deeds – to contribute to this world the best we can, as Wayne wanted. Wayne lived a full, good and productive life that his children witnessed and felt, and this is the legacy of hope he leaves them.
