Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the age of 52. Adored husband of Angela. Beloved father of Alex (Terrence). Cherished son of Sandra Harris and Ron Montgomery (Melba). Beloved brother of Kathleen Harris, Michelle Halliday (Al) and the late Connie. Reunited with his Grandma, Grampy, Uncles John and Alec and Brother- in- law Pete. Beloved son-in-law of Maria and Pasquale Di Carlo. Dear brother- in- law of Mauro (Cyndy) and Dennis (Janice). Terry will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and colleagues. Terry switched careers in 2003 and left Bay Street to become a volunteer at the Red Cross Scarborough drop in. In his recent capacity as Program Co-coordinator at the centre, Terry was well served by his compassion, humanity and concern for the welfare of the less fortunate. In honour of his memory, the Toronto Drop in Network Steering Committee has created the Terry Harris Award. This award will be presented annually to the drop in centre that most embodies what Terry stood for. Terry also served as chair of the Scarborough Housing Help Centre. Terry will be remembered as a loyal friend who kept close and lasting ties with friends from his childhood. His favorite place to relax was the cottage in Dorset where he would spend hours on the dock enjoying the sun and solitude. His sense of humour and zest for life will be sorely missed and cannot be replaced. The family would like to express special thanks to Rebecca Razak and Dean Walters of the C.C.A.C. and the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth’s. Visitation will be held at Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Rd (between Eglinton and St. Clair Aves E) on Tuesday February 22 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 23 at 11 am at Church of the Epiphany, 700 Kennedy Rd, Scarborough. Cremation. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
