January 22, 1957 – October 4, 2024
Passed away peacefully at her home in Downsview, Ontario on Friday October 4, 2024 at the age of 67.
Susan is survived by her beloved children Katherine Cappella-Cutmore (William), Angela Marin (Alex), Virginia Blair (Andrew), Jennifer Cappella (Miles), Cassandra Flieder (Jon), and Matthew. Susan was a devoted ‘Grandma-Nana’ to Aaliyah, ‘Nana’ to Lincoln, Jackson, Charlotte, Finnley, James, Jordan, Julianna, Owen, and Isaiah, and ‘Nanny’ to Audrey.
Susan has gone to rest with her parents Richard and Ida Wooldridge and her grandchildren Gabriella and Sawyer.
Susan will be lovingly remembered by her special sister and best friend of 55 years, Kathleen Harris (Peter), her former husband Antonio Cappella (Graciela), and her brother and sister-in law Gino and Anna Cappella. Susan will be lovingly remembered by her nieces Anna-Maria (Brad), Antonia (Andy) and her nephew Umberto. She was a great-aunt to Hugo and Lulu.
Susan was a cherished friend to many (you know who you are) and was often referred to as everyone’s “big-sister” or “mom” because of her warmth, support and sound advice that she freely gave to all. She will be remembered as incredibly kind and giving; a truly vibrant spirit.
Susan was an amazingly loving and devoted mother and grandmother; she loved every moment she spent with her family. She will be remembered for her love of nature and the outdoors; she spent all of her summer vacations camping at Ontario Provincial Parks and at the Shelstone family cottage on Whitestone Lake in Dunchurch, Ontario with her children, grandchildren and friends. She loved hosting events, creating festive memories for her family on all holidays, birthdays, and momentous occasions. She enjoyed classic movies, crafting, sewing, tea, and crocheting, creating crocheted throw blankets for each of her children and grandchildren.
At the time of her passing, Susan had been an employee of Northview Heights Secondary School in North York for 23 years where she held various positions, most recently the Office Administrator, in which she developed strong relationships with students and staff.
As per Susan’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a memorial donation in Susan’s name to The Friends of Awenda Park (where she camped every summer for over 30 years).
