Dear Richard,
I was so sad to hear that dear Ruth died. What a wonderful women she was.  Ruth was so good to me as I came from New Hampshire to see my parents Harold and Sonia Bates on Craighurst Ave.  Ruth  was so hospitable. I know what grace and dignity are because of Ruth.

Richard; how very sad to hear of your great loss.  I will always remember Ruth and the wonderful times we had together - parties, beaching and the infamous Gateau St Honore. May peace be with you in this difficult time.

I was so sorry to hear the sad news. My deepest condolences to you and the entire family.
I always enjoyed walking through the garden with Ruth. Her sweet pre-disposition and excitement to new ideas was energizing. My thoughts will be with you all.

I celebrate Ruth's warm, fun spirit: she stood by me when I was a graduate student.  She always had excellent suggestions on how to embrace life and how to renew oneself.

I was very sorry to hear of Ruth's passing. My thoughts and condolences are with Richard and family today. 

Working with Richard, I always enjoyed hearing about their trips and happy family events. I chatted with Ruth several times at company functions and she was always so gracious and kind to me and my wife Cynthia. A very classy lady.

Malgré les distances Ruth et moi avions de l'amitié et parfois une certaine complicité.
 Étant l'ainée des petits enfants d'Anna j'ai toujours suivi le cheminement de vie de mes cousins et cousines et je n'ai que de bons souvenirs avec ma cousine ''Chon Chon'' .

Comme on ne peut se rendre à Toronto, nous aurons une pensée toute particulière pour Ruth au moment de la célébration. On comprend que c'est dur et cruel une telle séparation mais en visionnant l'album de photos on y retrouve les joies, les petits et les grands bonheurs d'une vie et d'une famille heureuse qui eux ne peuvent disparaître dans vos souvenirs.

I first met Ruth when I joined CECS at the University of Waterloo back in 1991.  She was dedicated to her students and very supportive of their efforts and success.  My condolences to her family..

I am truly sorry to hear about the passing of Ruth.  Hers was a life truly lived.  She touched the lives of everyone she met in a caring and loving manner.  As a new co-ordinator to uWaterloo in 2004, Ruth shared invaluable insights, which I continue to use.

Richard, Bob, Anna & family:  Richard referred to Ruth as a "dancing flame" and she truly was.  She was always a source of inspiration, support, laughter & joy.  It was a privilege to have her as a friend for so many years.  Even though distance over the last decade meant that we didn't see each other, she still felt close.  That was part of her unique spirit.  I wish you all my heartfelt condolences in this time.  Our world is a better place because Ruth was here.

Thank you Ruth for being part of my life since we met 60 years ago in  high school. Thank you too for encouraging me to return to my art! Love you angel.
