September 5,1937 - September 4, 2023
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the extraordinary Mrs. Ludy Fairbairn, who left us on September 4, 2023, just a day before her 86th birthday.
Ludy was a testament to the courage and resilience that marked her journey from a young age. At just 18, she bravely embarked on a solo journey from Guyana to start a new life in Canada. This bold step was the inception of a life marked by kindness, friendship, and an unwavering love for her family.
She carried herself with a simple yet remarkable grace, fostering warmth and affection in every interaction. Ludy had the unique ability to make friends wherever she ventured, touching lives with her generous spirit and kind heart. She had a knack for making those she met feel seen and valued, always taking the time to show thoughtfulness and consideration.
Ludy harbored a deep affection for Newfoundland and New Brunswick, places that held cherished memories with family and friends. Her visits there were occasions of joy, a time to reconnect with the landscapes and the loved ones that she held dear.
Ludy's life was deeply enriched by the fond affection she harbored for her late husband Ronald Fairbairn, a cherished companion in her life journey. The bond they cultivated endured as a significant chapter in her life story, highlighted by cherished memories. She is survived by her loving children, Donna and Diane Rodrigues, and William Fairbairn. This beautiful family remains as a testament to Ludy's boundless capacity to love, and her incredible nurturing spirit.
As a grandmother, she showered boundless love upon her grandchildren: Jonathan and Amanda, children of Donna; Daniel (Tina) and Miguel (Roxy), children of Diane; and Shea-Lyn, William's daughter. Her great-grandchildren, Miguel, Karson, and Emma were blessed to know the love and warmth of their great-grandmother.
As we remember Ludy, we recall a woman who loved profoundly and was profoundly loved in return. Her legacy, marked by love, kindness, and a remarkable journey of bravery and resilience, will continue to inspire generations to come.
She will be profoundly missed, leaving a void that can only be filled by the cherished memories and the love she instilled in all of us. May her kind and gentle soul rest in peace.
