Ken passed away peacefully at St. Mike’s Hospital in Toronto. Ken is survived by his loving wife Barbara and son’s Ryan (Cathy Benson) and Greg (Scot Forsyth) and pre-deceased by baby Charles. He is also survived by his three cherished granddaughters Ashley (Ryerson), Shayley (Dan) and Shelby and four beloved great-grandchildren Dax, Ronan, Ellis and Kellan.
Ken was the youngest son of Albert Edward Jestin and Rose Barbara Carr of Heward Saskatchewan, predeceased by his siblings Dorothy (Fred), Wilbert (Ivy), Edward (Helen), Lloyd (Edna) and Evelyn (Neil). He also was a passionate member of the Ross family and predeceased by his in-laws, Kay (Frank), Ruth (Einar), Dene (Gill), Dick (Lois), Al (Alice), Ron (June), Marj (Earl), Beth (Erle). Dad grew up in rural Saskatchewan helping his father and family with farming, construction, and playing Hockey. He went as a young man to play Hockey in Kincaid Saskatchewan where he met and married Barbara Ann Ross on July 18,1956. They lived many years in Moose Jaw, working for Ashdown’s and then retiring from the Saskatchewan Department of Highways in 1996. Ken and Barb moved to Toronto in 2002 to be closer to their children.
Dad was a passionate Hockey player and fan, he reflected always about his days with the Kincaid Maroons and the Moose Jaw Pla-Mors. He also played senior men’s baseball, loved to Dance with Barbara and was a member of round dancing clubs in Moose Jaw and the Toronto area. And, in no particular order, he was passionate about Hockey (Habs), Baseball (Yankees and Jays), Football (Roughriders) dogs (Kita), horses (Heartland), Kincaid, Saskatchewan, shovelling snow, helping neighbours, Heward, Nieces, Nephews, honorary grandson Prem, farming, and music. He loved his neighbours in Moose Jaw, Upper Jarvis (a fixture on his front step meeting neighbours every day) and finally in Old Town Toronto.
Ken would have wanted to thank his Care Team from St Mike’s Hospital and Deb, his Nurses Grace and Frank and his PSW’s from the last years, in particular Azezza who all helped Dad to have a Full life to his end.
