Peacefully passed away on Tuesday December 13, 2011 in Toronto at the age of 91. John is predeceased by his beloved wife Edith, his sisters, Nancy and Patricia and his niece Susan Coker. Survived by his brother Robert (Bob) Coker and his wife Diana and Niece Jane. With thanks to Aki for many years of dedicated care to John and Edith. John will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his extended family, friends and colleagues. John served in the Royal Engineers of the 14th Army from 1940 to 1946 serving in India and fighting in Burma, achieving the rank of Major. He and his brother continued an avid interest in military history. John enjoyed a lengthy and fulfilling career in the insurance industry including service with Munich Reinsurance from 1964 – 1991 holding several positions including President of Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada (1969-1985)
A Service of Remembrance will be held at TRULL”NORTH TORONTO” FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 2704 Yonge St., (5 blocks south of Lawrence) on Tuesday December 20th at 10 am.
