Dear mother.                      
Today is three years since you went home to join the father in Heaven. You are still being mourned, however your friends and family are so happy to know you are in a better place. My sister Avis and I call your name daily; and wish you could be here; you were such an inspiration, so warm, so caring and giving. My Beautiful sweet great-grandmother, theres not much i can say that hasn’t already been said.
I am thankfull i was able to attend your 100th birthday even if it was for a few weeks i’m glad for every moment , every song , every dinner i cooked for you & the time we spent together. Much time couldnt be spent between us as we lived in 2 different countries , but when i see you and think of you, you remind me of home, you are where i belong & who i will always cherish forever.

I know Miss Ida from I was  a child attending the Springfield School, she was a very kind, loving and caring lady to us.She was also a friend of my family.I will surely miss her.My condolences to her family.

We met sis Ida when I  became the Pastor at  Ossington Ave Baptist church. She was very warm and friendly and welcoming and that made our transition a little more comfortable. Sis  Ida would always call me on Father's day and to be honest on any special occasions. Marion remembers sis Ida always willing to participate in the ladies meeting or when they put on a special program. Sis Ida was a kind and tireless worker, always smiling never complaining even  when she was in paim. Sis Ida was also an encouragement and a great example of faithful service.
Walk good miss Ida until we meet again.

My deepest condolences to the entire Williams family from Aunty Hazel and family.

I have been fortunate and privileged to know Miss Ida and feel her perception, warmth and love. And hear her sweet singing in the morning.  
I wish her Godspeed. May she rest in blessed and eternal peace.

One of my earliest memories of my time growing up in Jamaica, was of grandma soothing me with love and kindness after grandpa scolded me for losing one of his chickens.  She was both a mother and a Grandmother to me and to many others who were blessed to have known her.  One of my proudest moments with my grandmother was when she walked me down the aisle to marry my future husband Richard. She walked with grace and pride with a slight bounce in step that day. I was privileged to have been with her on both her 90th and 100th birthday celebrations.  Grandma you were the centre of our world. The things I took for granted are the things I will miss the most,  the video calls, the sound her voice calling me her beautiful granddaughter and buying her scratch cards. Everything that was grandma is what I will miss. Grandma I know you will always watch over us as you sit amongst those we have loved and lost, Grandpa, mum (Cynthia), Aunt Cissy,  Krissy and Kevin.

Spending my early years in Jamaica with you and my grandfather I was loved. Even when I returned to England you continued to be an important influence in my upbringing always supportive, giving your words of wisdom and prayer. I will cherish the fund memories I have of you and the happy times we shared.
I feel blessed to have celebrated with you your 101 birthday in Canada. Your hugs, smiles and infectious laugh will be missed.

One of my most vivid memories of my grandma was in Jamaica. I had come down with a fever and was in bed, sleeping it off. I awoke to grandma cutting my nails. It was the most tender, loving thing anyone has ever done for me. She made me feel so cared for. She always just seemed to know what was needed, what needed to be said - and what didn’t. She was a wisdom holder and you could feel this abundance of love and knowing, simply by being in her presence. Another memory was hearing her sing. Even this year, her voice was always so strong! Another memory is talking to her and especially as she got older, sometimes I assumed maybe she wouldn’t know what I was talking about. But she knew and understood everything! She always knew. She will be missed greatly. An incredible woman we were so very blessed to know, love and be loved by.

I met Aunt Ida when I was 6yrs old when she came to Salt Spring to visit her sister I never knew who she was untill my grandmother told me that she was my grandaunt I was in her lap during the time she was there ..When she was leaving I started to cry and she said I won't leave u I am taking u home with me to Springfield that where the bond started .                 She was a mother grandmother to all very jovial kind loving to everyone always have a shoulder for u to cry on always have a word of encouragement guidances to all                                     Growing up in Springfield church is a must on a Sunday n school everyday of the week       When it was anniversary at church I alway take part and always get my new dress to wear   she always instill good manners in me always reminded me that I must put God in everything I do...A true christian and will be surely miss..........We miss u aunt Ida  rest in peace aunt Ida may we find comfort in the memories of u ..           

Sister Ida, such wonderful memories of you since we met at Ossington Avenue Baptist Church, watching you participating in every unit of this assembly.  You have nourished everyone with your love.  We will always cherish our memories of you and the legacy you’ve left in our hearts.  Rest in eternal peace.

Miss Ida was a beautiful lady inside and out. I am going to miss our wonderful telephone conversations. Rest in Peace,  you will be missed dearly. Always in our hearts. My condolences to Madie, Mel and her extended family and friends. 

Our sincere condolences to the entire family from the Hillarys. We realize any family loss, no matter how long God has allowed them to be among us, is traumatic and a huge void. I grew up in Springfield, St. James, Jamaica, and can truly say Miss. Ida was a Godly lady and a strong matriarch of her family. She was always happy to see you, full of encouraging words and complements. She was the original “Ancestry.com” and was always ready to share her past by recalling events, names and dates better than any of us.  We are so glad we were able to be in one chapter of her fulfilled life.  There is no doubt she is resting in the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ. 
May God give comfort, peace and great memories to the family and especially Moddie (Avis) and her family during this most difficult time and days to come. May God bless Moddie  for the sacrifices she made taking care of her mother all these years.  Her reward is in Heaven.

Growing up as a little girl, you were all I knew.  My mother, my grandmother you shaped my formative years and I feel so proud and blessed to have known you and to have shared so much with you.  

Your strength of mind and capacity to love, not just your immediate family, but others around is proof of the person you were. 

You touched so many in your lifetime and achieved so much, despite not having a formal education, and that is a testament of you my grandmother.  You walked with the Lord day and night and prayer was your watchword, and you used it mightily.

To think, I won’t hear the words “my granddaughter” again, this is how you would call to me sometimes and often followed up with a big hug and a kiss.  To be wrapped in your arms and know that I am loved, was the best feeling ever.  

Rest in Peace my dearest Grandmother you will forever be in my heart.

Miss Ida was a pillar in her family and in the community. May she rest in perfect peace. 

To the family I would like to express my sincere and deepest sympathy.  I had  many cherished moments with Ms Ida.  I always felt loved.  Her terms of endearment and warmth was felt when you were in her presence. Her life is  a testament because when see her  you recognize her faithfulness  as she live by the will of God.  Ms. Ida may  God receives you into his Kingdom and may you have eternal peace.  You will be sadly missed .

Miss Ida “The historian “. She was that to me and many others. Miss Ida help to fill in the blanks in some of us lives from Springfield Welcome Hall St James, she provided us with names of next of kin who had gone before, their names and what they were like. We felt as though we new them when she was through.  

Miss Ida was a treasure and the mother of my cousin Melita Thorpe-Johnson and her siblings. She had a heart of gold, a wise and Godly woman who mothered every one kids.

No one who knows her could help loving her. She was loved.  Rest dear Miss Ida in eternal peace. You will forever be missed.💕

I met Sister Ida at Ossington Ave Baptist in the 90s  she is was a very warm and cheerful woman.She was an encourager a woman with experience & knowledge.There was never a dull moment with sister Ida she was a fine Christian who loved to sing the songs of Zion.One of her favorite songs was Come ye disconsolate wherever ye languish come to the mercy seat frevently kneel hear bring your wounded heart here tell hear bring anguish Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Ms. Ida was such an inspiration and will be missed terribly.  Losing the family matriarch is very hard.  We were so excited for her to be part of our virtual wedding and we were only a few days away when we lost her.  She loved my fiancé and I so much and I'm so glad she got to meet him.  He misses her terribly as well.  All my love to Auntie Avis at this time ❤

My Dearest Grandma. Words cannot express what losing you has done to me. You had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need.Even if it was your last. Everyone became your grandchildren or children and you shared your love with no biases. You were my rock and strength and always had my back. I will always remember the fond and fun times we shared from my childhood years and all the way into my adulthood.You were such an integral part of my life- whether it was my children, relationships and life in general. Your prayers were just magical. Once I knew Miss Ida was praying for me all fears were gone. Things always miraculously worked out.My children Kristen, Justin and Lauren all enjoyed you , your stories and your cooking. Making drops for Krissy was so treasured by her. Jeffrey would always talk about your spirit and strength.His whole family felt like they knew you as well.He was very fond of you. Overall grandma, I just miss you and my heart is broken. Krissy , Kevin, Aunt Cissy and Aunt Cynthia will take good care of you in Heaven. Please keep watching over me and sending prayers. I love you and will never forget you.May your soul rest in eternal peace.

Hello  my name is Claudette English, a grand-niece. It was so nice  for my family and I to have met aunt Ida, my husband Robert, daughters, Racquel and Roxanne and son in law Orlando. She was  the oldest family member that I knew.
We attended her birthday parties, she was the life of the parties.
Because of her we met many family members. She was so happy and cheerful.

To my mother, words are not enough to speak of to good times and to thank you for the many years that you have nurtured and kept the family together. You have taught my sisters and I  ( Ceceline and Cynthia deceased) some core principles to live by  and these are love, respect, honesty, giving ,forgiving ; above all you taught us to love God first. These are the principles we have lived by and have tried to pass on to our children. Do we miss you?,yes we do, how could we not? You have left a great void in the lives of your children, grandchildren, great grands, other family members and friends, however we are happy for you, that after 101 years and 7 months you have completed your work on earth and has gone to join your maker. You have touched so many lives, you and old both in Jamaica and in Toronto. You loved all children and young adults and for some reason they gravitated towards you.  My mother, deep in my heart I know you will never be far from us , but we must say farewell. You were the wind beneath many wings, you have taught us to fly, you have inspired us, your footprints will always be there in the sand.  Farewell mother.

We love 💕 you Grandma. You were a special soul. Your love and compassion to everyone was priceless. Enjoy your eternal rest. You deserve your reward.

I remember Sis. Ida with great fondness and joy. She used to call me her "grandson" and I gladly accepted that. It was a such a pleasure to serve as her Pastor from 2009-2014. Sheryl and I were there for her 90th and 100th birthday celebrations. 
To Avis and the rest of the family, may the God of all comfort be with you in this time.  May Miss Ida continue to rest in the presence of her Maker and Saviour whom she loved and served so faithfully.
