On November 18, 2014, Henry Gordon Kitts passed away peacefully at the age of 90 at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre. A veteran of WWII, RCAF SQ 403 Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron. Henry served in England, Holland, Belgium and Germany.
Known professionally as Henry Koro, Henry had a successful career in commercial photography in Montreal and Toronto following his service in the war. Through the lens of his cameras he captured and recorded over six decades of Canadian life. His last two years were spent in another medium, paint on canvas, transferring with artistry and skill what his eye had recorded during a long, eventful life.
Henry left us to join our Almighty Father and his parents, Henry Ruben and Beatrice Korb Kitts. Henry was the beloved husband of Maureen Shaughnessy Kitts and dear father of sons Pierre (Joanne) of Ste. Lazare, and Timothy and daughter Tara of Toronto.
Born on January 22, 1924, raised in Montreal with his parents and brother and sisters, he was a cherished brother to Gary, Beatrice, Ruby, and his deceased sisters Millicent and Joyce. Henry Kitts was a brother-in-law to Kelly and Sandy, Frank and Luiza, Honora, Susan Shaughnessy and Eric Boulva and uncle to many Shaughnessy and Kitts nieces and nephews.
His family gratefully thanks all those at Sunnybrook Hospital and the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre who have been so caring to Henry during his recent illness.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday November 20, 2014 at St. Gabriel’s Passionist Parish (670 Sheppard Ave. East) at 10:00 am. Private cremation to follow.
Donations in Henry’s memory would be greatly appreciated to the Veterans Comfort Fund, at the Sunnybrook Foundation.
