Elaine was cycling through the City of Toronto on a warm November afternoon. Possibly feeling something wrong, she stopped, dismounted her bike and parked it. She then collapsed. Bystanders in the area rushed to her aid. EMS quickly arrived and moved Elaine to Toronto General Hospital. At TGH they continued working on her for well over an hour. They were unable to revive her. Elaine’s sudden and tragic passing shocked all of us. Elaine was born in Montreal. She graduated Marymount High School and then DawsonCollege. She moved to Toronto with her parents, George and Ruth Colford, both deceased. Elaine attended and graduated from York University. Upon graduation, her first job was with Confederation Life. Elaine had a variety of passions: hockey, travel, running, swimming in Lake Ontario from May to the first winds of Fall, her herd of nieces and nephews, and, greatest of all, her partner Karen Wendling. Elaine was thrilled to take an early retirement package from Sun Life to live fully her passions. Elaine is survived by her love, Karen. Elaine is also survived by her siblings David (Graziella), John (Mary, predeceased), Marie (Taylor), Gregory Mark (Maureen), and Philip (Elizabeth). Elaine was predeceased by her brother Paul. The herd of nephews and nieces are also mourning the loss of their beloved Aunt Elaine. We extend our gratitude to the strangers who initially rushed to Elaine’s aid, and we sincerely thank the EMS and emergency personnel at Toronto General Hospital for their extraordinary efforts in trying to revive Elaine.
