Carl! you have been my friend and barber for more than forty years. You were an intelligent, friendly, and loving gentleman. La Parisienne became a special place because you were there.
Rest in Peace Carl; i will miss you.

Much to my dismay, I just found out about Carl's passing. I am so very sorry to hear about his passing. I had not been in contact during Covid even though I had called numerous times over the last nine month.  I had thought he was in Jamaica due to the shutdown.  

My deepest condolences to the Carty family,  friends and all his loved ones. May treasured memories bring peace in those moments when sorrow and grief threaten to overtake and overwhelm you.

It was such a pleasure to have Carl as my barber over the last 5 years.  A true gentleman, kind soul, and wonderful conversationalist who truly cared about his clientele.  

I am so disappointed that I didn't know and was unable to attend the service! 

I will definitely miss our chats and his barbering skills.  

Heaven has gained another wonderful one!

I just heard About Carl's passing. I am so sorry to hear that he passed. He has been my barber and friend for the last 25 yrs and we have such good memories. He would give me relationship advice and life advice in general. I spoke to him while he was in the hospital and offered him a ride home. I feel bad that i missed his funeral and i know nothing about his passing.

I have just today learned of Carl's passing when I tried to call him to wish him happy new year. 

I am so so so very saddened to hear of his passing.

Carl was my barber from my arrival in Canada 25 years ago and became a good friend and father figure in very short order and we remained in touch after I had no hair to cut.

We have spent many an afternoon just sitting and chatting about life while we watched the news in the shop. 

I miss you Carl!

I am so sad to hear about Carl's passing. I met Carl over 30 years ago when I worked at the Shiatsu Centre next to his salon. We remained in contact all these years. It was always heart warming to stop by the salon and spend time with this beautiful soul.

Carl was a fixture in my life, from the age of five when I came to Canada and he started cutting my hair,  to his fatherly pride when I graduated from university, got married and had my own family.  You will be greatly missed.  I don’t think that I can bring myself to drive by the shop for a very very long time.

I heard about Carl’s passing last week.  I last spoke to him on 31/July, when I was downtown and called him to see about getting my haircut.  I heard his voice message and left him a brief message of my own.  True to his promise in his voice message, he called me back later that afternoon and told me he was not feeling well and had been admitted to the hospital – but he sounded like his usual self.  We finished the conversation expecting I’d be coming by his shop in a few weeks.  It’s a shock to know that his condition worsened and he died 9 days later.  I now realize why, unlike before, he hadn’t returned my calls – he couldn’t keep the promise in his voice message.

My Brother and I have been going to Carl’s at his different locations, since we were small boys.  I remember “the board” that he placed on the arm of the barber’s chair, to raise my younger brother up, to sit at a height that he could properly cut his hair.  I got to sit on the phone books.  As adults it was a ritual between my brother and I, to visit Carl every 5 weeks or so, to get our haircut and engage in conversation about current affairs, especially if there was a particular interest for Black People.  It’s the end of an era for us.

We wish we had been able to attend his visitation to honour his memory and pay our respects.  Carl will be missed.  We wish God’s blessings and our deepest condolences to this Family and his other friends.

I just found out about Carl's passing. He cut my hair for the last 30 years. I am going to miss chatting and catching up with him. He will be missed. Rest in peace, Carl.

My haircut will never be the same.  Carl cut my hair for over 40years and it was always a pleasure to catch up with him on a regular basis. 
Carl was a good person and he'll be missed!

I’m heartsick that Carl has passed and I didn’t get to say good bye.  More than 20 years ago, I moved to  Bathurst Street, very near the shop. Hardly a day has passed in the interim that we haven’t waved or chatted as I passed by - except when he was in Jamaica. 
Such a kind, cheerful human being. I will miss him more than he could ever know.

My husband and I met Carl in our twenties and we both visited him regularly to get our hair cut. He was a mentor and loving friend to both of us and even attended our wedding. When we had kids we brought them to Carl for all the goodness that is offered once you sat in his chair. He was a wonderful, charming, considerate and savvy business man...full of life. I will miss the way he always called me Rosie even though most people know me as Paula, his infectious smile, wonderful words of wisdom and his great laugh. He will be greatly missed! RIP Dear Carl, with abundant Love, Master T & Roxy.

To the Carty family my heartfelt condolences... I know Carl for over 20 years and we talked very often even the Thursday before he passed.. I am saddened by his passing... To me Carl was full of life, very compassionate and a beautiful smile... Will miss u my dear friend Carl... Take your rest...
