My mother Paulina, is very sad to hear of Dimitra's passing. She remembers her with great fondness and admiration. She often mentioned to us what an exceptional willingness Dimitra had to help people. Paulina and all of us hope that the Jovanovich family is doing well after the passing of this wonderful woman.

I worked with Dimitra at Castleview Wychwood Towers until her retirement.  She was a dedicated nurse who worked diligently and cared for her patients with great care.

She was very hard working person , kind, polite and pleasant and always willing to help, and she always gave her best to the patients and co-workers as well.I tried to get in touch with her to let her know how grateful the late Ann Marie Dias and I were but was unable to do so before she passed. She was always smiling, and her words of wisdom and encouragement always brightened our day. May her memory be eternal. Dimitra Bekiari Jovanovich was an absolutely remarkable woman. She entered our lives in the 1950s when we were looking for a live-in baby sitter and she was beginning her studies in nursing. I had no idea where her village was (Sitohori in Messinia) or where the cities of Kopanaki or Kyparissia were—they were cities to which she’d walk to attend high school. I was astonished and learned so much from her about village life, schools in rural Greece, farm life, religious life (her brother became a priest), higher education in Athens, the meaning of hard work, the endless pursuit of success, the importance of faith, etc. 

She managed it all extremely well—school, work, family. She got scholarships wherever she studied and received top recommendations for her next step up. And she kept on succeeding. 

And then Canada, Branko and family life. She always remembered her humble beginnings and helped her family back in the old country. 

We rediscovered each other when I moved to America and called each other or corresponded a coupe of times a year. 

I fondly remember the sparkle in her eyes—always ready to jump to do something. She never stood still and nursing was a perfect job for her—restlessly helping others. 

We are lucky to have known her. The Paraschos family never forgot her.

Dimitra and I started work @ TGH (then) onOctober 1, 1979 in the Renal ICU College Wing. We went through our RN orientations together. Through the decades Dimitra and I developed a  friendship.She remembered the birthday of my 2 younger children, always calling and sending something for them. Everyone who knew her, knows that your mom was kind, hardworking, caring , generous  and always have a helping hand.

Please ask accept my condolences . I worked with Mrs Dimitri at Castleview . During her time of working here she was an exceptional nurse . Always willing to help with any task .We will miss her. When I was in the hospital with my son 19 years ago she was there for me . She came everyday to see me and to check to see if I got the correct medications. She was my guiding star . I will always remember her kindness .
