He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jeanette. His daughter, Gina (Andy Cook) and his grandsons Adam and Evan.
Dennis is also survived by his sister, Kathleen and brother Michael. Sadly his other beloved brother Jimmy passed away earlier this year.
Dennis grew up in Langdon Hills and Laindon in Essex, UK.
He left school at a young age and worked for Brown & Tawse as a machine operator for 50 years.
Dennis loved gardening, he also used to make his own wine and beer – Jeanette and Gina remember the beer barrel that exploded in the living room years ago causing the house to smell like a brewery for a week!
Dennis has always enjoyed watching football and was a lifelong Arsenal supporter (English Premier League). Since moving to Canada in 2010, he has also supported Toronto FC, and has attended numerous games with Andy, Gina and Evan. Most recently Dennis attended a game in June for his birthday and Father’s Day with Gina, unfortunately Toronto FC lost!
When they were both younger – Adam and Evan spent lots of time with Dennis and Jeanette and had many happy days out with them to the Toronto Islands and vacations in cottage country where Dennis was always at home with a pint in hand by the fire.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Sunnybrook Palliative Care Wing on K1E for their compassionate care for Dennis over the last month. We would also like to take this opportunity to extend our thanks to Dr. Kathryn Towns at NYGH. She has been the oncologist doctor for Dennis since his diagnosis and has provided the most compassionate care and support for him and his family throughout his journey.
A private family gathering will be held to say our goodbyes at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home in North York with an internment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family asks you to consider a donation in memory to:
